Sojourner Project is so proud to be part of a community that is working toward safer lives and a safer world. As we embark upon a new year, it feels like the perfect time to share with you something we couldn’t do our work without…volunteers! This past Saturday eight volunteers, two interns and one new staff member attended the first volunteer training of 2018. It was a day filled with thoughtful conversation, new relationships and deeper understandings of what domestic violence really is. Volunteers described the training as "interactive, well-structured, informative" and filled with "good insight into DV."
Sojourner has a large variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from on-going weekly commitments to short one-time weekend projects. Some examples including: providing evening childcare, answering the crisis line, becoming an on-call Intervention Advocate, grocery shopping, administrative support, cooking meals for residents and projects like organizing our clothing closet or yard work (when it’s warmer!)
This work makes a HUGE impact on our clients and we deeply appreciate the time our volunteers offer us. If you have an interest in getting involved, we can find a place for your talents! Many of our opportunities do not require training. Contact Laura@sojournerproject.org to find out more.
