A new year means our 2024 Holiday Boutique has officially ended. For two weeks our boardroom was transformed into a winter wonderland of toys, clothes, and household goods for our clients. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we provided toys, clothes, blankets, gift cards and winter gear to 143 individuals! This includes 49 adults and 93 children.
We know toys and presents won’t fix the big challenges our clients face. However, finding ways to experience joy and normalcy during difficult times is important. We are grateful to be able to ease some of the financial and emotional stressors parents may feel around the holiday season. After walking through the boutique with her advocate, one client shared, “You have no idea how helpful this is for me. I never thought I would be in a situation like this. I was wondering if we would even do Christmas this year and now I don’t have to worry about it at all.” We sent her home with toys, pajamas, blankets, and winter weather gear for her three kids, plus wrapping paper, a bag of cleaning supplies and toiletries, gas and Target gift cards, and a gift bag, just for her.
We would like to give a special thanks to our volunteer groups and donors, who helped make the boutique possible. Whether it was decorating the boardroom, setting up our winter clothing station, organizing toys or wrapping presents, volunteer groups were invaluable to our success. Sojourner felt the giving spirit from all corners of our community—individual donors, corporate drives, knitting clubs, faith groups etc- Thank you!
